Labor Day Weekend
September 3-5, 2010
As many of you may have heard, Susan Kevra, who was scheduled to call for this year's High Tea & Whiskey dance weekend, had an unfortunate accident, leaving her with a torn ACL. This has required her to cancel a number of her engagements, including High Tea & Whiskey, while she is recuperating. We will certainly miss having Susan here and we send her our best wishes for a speedy recovery.
The exciting news is that we were able to arrange for another of the great English dance callers and teachers, Joanna Reiner, shown here to the left, to make her first appearance in the St. Louis region. We feel particularly fortunate that she happened to be available at just the right time. She will be coming to us having just completed teaching for two weeks at both the English and the English & American dance weeks at Pinewoods.
What is this weekend? It's Contra! It's English! It's an English/American dance weekend! Contra the way English dancers like it, with spit and polish and interesting music, and English the way Contra dancers like it - full of energy and joyous sponteneity. That's the idea, anyway. Here's how we plan to achieve it:
Calling by JOANNA REINER and JIM THAXTER
Music by MARTHA EDWARDS, PAMELA CARSON STOLL AND KENDALL ROGERS
