Pictures and Videos from Last Year (2009)

Here we are getting ready on Friday. Some of the lights are up, and the sound guys are hooking up the system.

Meanwhile, in the dining room, the registration table awaits its customers with the badges all lines up. Kay is watching Keith and Martha figure out how many contra dancers it takes to change a lightbulb. (Answer? Only four, but you have to walk them through it three times.)

Joseph and Fred and Susan and Dale made a dramatic entrance. We were so glad to see them.

Many members of the Hall family, of Salem, MO, were in attendance. Here are four (out of six).

Joseph Pimentel silhouetted against the Betsy Ross flag, with Reel Women and the Jigelos - Martha Edwards, Ben Schreiber, Kristin Graham and Mike Brown.

Here's a scene from the Friday contra. The Monday Club really glows when you put the little lights up.

A picture from the Friday Afterparty. Here, three of the members of "Smuggler's Cargo" jam on the stage.

A picture from the Saturday workshops. Something always seemed amusing.

A picture from the Saturday Ball. British and American flags were much in evidence, as were lovely ladies and handsome gentlemen.

A picture from the Saturday Ball. The Tu'Penny Uprights talk over some of the fine points.

Sunday's callers' workshop was nothing short of amazing. We actually learned stuff.

The St Louis Shape Note singers came out in force to augment the lusty voices of the weekend singers. Here's Fred taking his turn at standing in the middle.

Happy people Flash Dancing at St. Louis Union Station.

Here are a bunch of us, happy to still be standing on Sunday afternoon at the Flash Dance at St Louis Union Station. Click on the picture for a closer view.

Unbelievably, a whole bunch of these folks went the the Sunday Contra that evening.

Here's a video of the Flash Dance at Union Station.

The Monday Club is a lovely place to dance. Here is a video of "Ashford Anniversary" from the Webster Groves English Country Dancers' dance in February. Tu'Penny Uprights is joined by Ben Schreiber and Mike Brown. The caller is Kimberly Hall.

And here is a link to photos from an earlier event, put on by Dance Discovery, a St. Louis performance troupe. This was an Inaugural Ball on January 20, 2009, celebrating the inauguration of a new President by dancing dances done at an earlier President's Inaugural Ball - President Abraham Lincoln.
